Russia becomes Kyrgyzstan’s largest wheat supplier

Russia has sharply increased wheat exports to Kyrgyzstan since the beginning of 2026, overtaking Kazakhstan to become the country’s largest supplier of the grain, according to statistical data.

The volume of Russian wheat supplies increased 4.5-fold, from 39,369 tons worth more than $8 million to 178,968 tons valued at $39.065 million, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.

Russia now accounts for 76.4% of all wheat imported into Kyrgyzstan, totaling 234,098 tons.

Kazakhstan, which was Kyrgyzstan’s largest supplier last year, has fallen to second place, exporting 55,131 tons worth $12.604 million.

Overall, the value of Russian exports to Kyrgyzstan totaled $1.39 billion from January through May.
