Xi meets Russian State Duma chairman

Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Vyacheslav Volodin, chairman of Russia’s State Duma, in Beijing. Xi stressed that China-Russia ties are the most stable, mature, and strategically significant major-country relations in today’s turbulent world. Recalling the immense sacrifices of both countries in World War II, Xi emphasized the importance of carrying forward their traditional friendship, deepening mutual trust, expanding cooperation, and promoting solidarity with Global South nations while upholding true multilateralism. He also highlighted that cooperation between legislative bodies is a vital component of the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership. Volodin conveyed warm greetings from Vladimir Putin, praised the fruitful development of bilateral ties under the two presidents’ leadership, and noted that Russia will join China in commemorating the 80th anniversary of victory in World War II.
