Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz will pay an official visit to Kyrgyzstan on September 17, 2025. He is expected to meet with President Sadyr Japarov and Cabinet Chairman Adylbek Kasymaliev. The 12th session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation will also take place, with new agreements likely to be signed.

Energy cooperation is a key focus, including the construction of the Kazarman and Kokomeren hydropower plants (over $6 billion investment) and a planned gas power plant at Bishkek’s TPP-2. These projects aim to boost energy security, reduce import dependence, and strengthen Kyrgyzstan’s export capacity.

Bilateral trade between January–July 2025 reached $281.7 million, down 1.6% year-on-year due to a sharp drop in Kyrgyz exports, despite a 5.4% rise in imports from Turkey. Both sides aim to expand trade to $5 billion.

Beyond trade, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey actively cooperate within multilateral platforms such as the Organization of Turkic States and the UN. For Bishkek, this partnership supports foreign policy diversification; for Ankara, it strengthens its presence in Central Asia. The visit is expected to consolidate existing ties and open new avenues for cooperation in energy, economy, and diplomacy.
