Azim Ahmadhujayev, Director of the Atomic Energy Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan, and Rafael Mariano Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) held a meeting. During the meeting, Uzbekistan’s work in the field of nuclear energy and opportunities for cooperation with the IAEA were discussed.
The delegation of Uzbekistan provided information on the country’s nuclear energy program and developments in this field. In particular, the delegation emphasized the importance of the IAEA’s technical assistance in the peaceful use of nuclear energy, radiation safety and the application of nuclear technologies. Rafael Grossi appreciated Uzbekistan’s efforts in the field of nuclear energy, noting that the IAEA will continue to support the country in this process. Grossi also praised Uzbekistan’s determination to strengthen its nuclear infrastructure and comply with international standards. During the meeting, the two sides also discussed the implementation of new projects in the fields of training, technical cooperation and information exchange. Uzbekistan aims to benefit from the IAEA’s experience in training experts in the field of nuclear energy and increasing its technological capacity.
