Uzbekistan and the Austrian company Bauer intend to move to a new stage of cooperation in the implementation of water-saving technologies in agriculture.

This was discussed during a meeting between Uzbekistan’s Minister of Agriculture, Ibrohim Abdurakhmonov, and Bauer’s Chief Financial Officer, Andreas Schitter.

During the talks, the parties discussed the results of their current partnership and future prospects for cooperation.

The main focus was on the implementation of modern solutions for the rational use of water in the country’s agricultural sector. In particular, they discussed opportunities to improve irrigation efficiency, reduce water consumption and maintain crop yields through the use of modern sprinkler systems.

Following the meeting, the parties signed a draft contract as part of the second phase of the project ‘Introduction of modern water-saving technologies in Uzbekistan’s agriculture’. The document provides for the supply and comprehensive installation of modern sprinkler irrigation systems.

The Ministry of Agriculture emphasised that effective water resource management and the introduction of advanced technologies are among the priority tasks for the development of the agricultural sector.
