General Secretary of the Communist Party of Việt Nam Central Committee and President Tô Lâm and Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever have reaffirmed their strong political commitment to deepening the two countries’ traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation for the practical benefit of both peoples and for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the regions and worldwide.

The pledge was made during their talks in Brussels on Friday as part of the top Vietnamese leader’s official visit to the European country.

PM De Wever warmly welcomed General Secretary and President Tô Lâm and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, describing the visit as a particularly significant political event that builds on the success of the Belgian King and Queen’s state visit to Việt Nam in April 2025 and provides fresh impetus for bilateral relations.

He praised Việt Nam’s growing role and standing in the Asia-Pacific region and on the international arena, and congratulated the country on its impressive socio-economic achievements.

Belgium considers Việt Nam a top-priority partner in Southeast Asia and wishes to expand cooperation in areas of shared strengths and interests, he said.
