Professor Dr. Mehmet Seyfettin Erol, President of the Ankara Center for Crisis and Policy Studies (ANKASAM), provided the following assessment to the “Dunyo” News Agency regarding the outcomes of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit to Uzbekistan on August 29-30:
“Narendra Modi’s state visit to Tashkent coincides with a juncture wherein the bilateral relations between India and Uzbekistan have markedly transcended the traditional boundaries of political dialogue.
At present, robust mutual interests have materialized between the two nations, driven not merely by mutual understanding, but by a concrete economic agenda aimed at forging cooperation across diverse sectors ranging from pharmaceuticals and healthcare to energy, the chemical industry, geology, agriculture, and mechanical engineering.
It is particularly noteworthy that the process in question bears the distinct hallmark of ‘systematic cooperation.’ From the Indian perspective, Uzbekistan constitutes a strategic focal point as one of the most stable and outward-oriented partners in Central Asia. Conversely, from the perspective of Tashkent, India represents a major actor harboring immense potential for the deepening of bilateral relations.”
