Armenia deputy FM, UN official underscore further deepening of cooperation

Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan met with Elizabeth Spehar, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Peacebuilding and Peace Support, in New York.

Abisoghomonyan briefed his interlocutor on the latest regional developments around Armenia, and emphasized the need to further strengthen and institutionalize the peace established in the South Caucasus, the foreign ministry of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The parties exchanged views on matters related to maintaining international peace and security, and underscored the role of peacekeeping in this context.

Also, the deputy FM spoke about Armenia’s active engagement in peacekeeping missions implemented within the framework of the UN and NATO in various parts of the world. In addition, he reaffirmed Armenia’s commitment to supporting international efforts in peacekeeping.

The interlocutors emphasized the importance of further deepening cooperation between Armenia and the UN, particularly within the framework of initiatives being implemented in peacekeeping, peacebuilding, and development.

The meeting touched also upon the current situation in the Middle East, and stressed the importance of its resolution and ensuring regional stability.
