Citizens of Armenia will be allowed to enter Russia only with passports, including diplomatic passports. Other documents will be removed from the list of those valid for crossing the Russian border. The draft amendments to the 2000 Russian-Armenian visa-free travel agreement have been approved by the Russian government, TASS reports.
The changes have been preliminarily agreed with Yerevan and will be formalized through an exchange of diplomatic notes. The Cabinet approved the draft Russian reply note agreeing to accept the updated list of documents proposed by Armenia for its citizens traveling to Russia.
Under the updated rules, Armenian citizens will be able to enter, exit and stay in Russia using: a passport of a citizen of the Republic of Armenia, a diplomatic passport, and a certificate for return to the Republic of Armenia (for exit from Russia only, for example in case of passport loss).
Under the current version of the agreement, Armenian citizens may also enter Russia using a birth certificate (for children under 16), military and law enforcement identification cards, crew member flight certificates, and railway employee IDs when traveling as part of train crews.
