Iran will not allow the Strait of Hormuz to reopen, and reports claiming that Tehran accepted a Qatari-mediated proposal to restore shipping through the waterway are false, according to Iran’s Fars News Agency.
A source within the country’s negotiating team said no agreement has been reached on resuming maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, and the circulating reports are untrue.
The source stressed that the strait will remain closed as long as the United States “continues its hostile actions.”
Earlier, Israel’s N12 television channel claimed that US President Donald Trump had agreed to cancel a planned large-scale strike on Iran after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accepted a compromise proposal from Qatari mediators to restore shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
