The European Investment Bank is strengthening its climate partnership with Kazakhstan.
As reported by Trend on Friday, this was announced by European Investment Bank (EIB) Vice-President Kyriakos Kakouris during a panel discussion on ‘The Innovation Challenge: How to Make the Fight Against Climate Change Effective for All’ at the Astana 2025 International Forum.
The Vice-President noted that the visit to Astana underscores the EIB’s serious approach to sustainability and partnership issues.
‘We are here in Astana today, and this is proof that we recognise a partnership where everyone wins. We are saying that sustainability is very important,’ said Kyriakos Katsouris.
According to him, the European Investment Bank is actively involved in the development of projects aimed at a sustainable future in Central Asia, and in particular in Kazakhstan.
“Let me give you a specific example, starting with Kazakhstan. In March, in Astana, we announced a special project with the Development Bank of Kazakhstan to support transport infrastructure and sustainable energy. This initiative is leading to the country’s energy diversification, i.e. a gradual reduction in dependence on fossil fuels and a shift towards renewable resources,” he said.
