Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov discussed prospects for cooperation between Baku and Brussels during a meeting with Olof Skoog, Political Director of the European External Action Service and Deputy Secretary-General for Political Affairs, Report informs, citing Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“The meeting discussed the current state and prospects of relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union, regional security issues, the post-conflict situation in the region, the process of normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as other regional and international issues of mutual interest,” the ministry said.
The sides emphasized the importance of developing political dialogue and cooperation in various areas and noted significant potential for expanding partnership in energy security, transport communications and green energy.
Azerbaijan’s role in ensuring the EU’s energy security was particularly noted, while projects in renewable energy, energy efficiency and electricity exports were also discussed.
Special attention was paid to efforts to ensure sustainable peace and stability in the region, as well as to advancing the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process.
Bayramov informed the European delegation about restoration and reconstruction work, as well as the mine threat.
