In connection with the incursion of Russian unmanned aerial vehicles into Polish airspace, the Belgian Foreign Ministry summoned Russian Ambassador to Belgium Denis Gonchar and the Russian chargé d’affaires in Brussels to provide explanations.

According to Report, this information was disseminated by the Belgian news agency Belga, citing an official statement from the Foreign Ministry.

During the meeting, the Belgian side expressed its view on the incident, calling it a ‘deliberate intrusion’ into the airspace of a European Union member state and describing it as ‘a serious escalation of tension on the part of Russia towards the EU and NATO.’

It should be recalled that on the morning of 10 September, the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces announced the destruction of several objects identified as UAVs that had violated the country’s airspace. Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that on the night of 9 to 10 September, 19 violations of airspace were recorded, and that all the drones spotted came from Belarus. In response to the incident, Poland invoked Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty, requesting NATO to hold consultations among its members.
