Cambodian Senate President and acting head of state Hun Sen, speaking at the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, praised China’s achievements over the past 76 years in economy, trade, finance, industry, science, and innovation, noting its key role in global growth. He highlighted that since 1958, Cambodia-China relations have grown into a comprehensive strategic partnership and an “ironclad friendship.” Hun Sen stressed that China is Cambodia’s largest trading partner, investor, and aid provider, significantly contributing to its socio-economic and infrastructure development. He said the two countries will advance initiatives such as “Diamond Cooperation,” the “Industrial and Technological Corridor,” and the “Fish and Rice Corridor,” while aligning the Belt and Road Initiative with Cambodia’s Pentagonal Strategy Phase I. He reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to working with China through ASEAN, UN, and other regional frameworks to promote peace, stability, and prosperity.
