Liu Jieyi, Spokesperson of the 3rd Session of the 14th National Committee of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said at a press conference on Monday that China will resolutely promote economic globalization and cooperate with other economies by expanding high-quality opening-up. Through this cooperation, opportunities will be shared and common development will be achieved, Liu said.
Liu stressed that China has accelerated the construction of a new economic system, made progress on the Belt and Road Initiative, and established platforms to promote economic cooperation, such as the China International Import Expo. As the world’s largest trading nation and second largest import market, China has become the biggest engine of global economic growth over the past year. China aims to promote inclusive economic globalization and actively participate in global economic governance, Liu said, adding that this shows China’s sense of responsibility. Liu said China will continue to improve institutional mechanisms for high-quality opening-up, steadily expand systematic opening-up, deepen reforms to the foreign trade system and foreign investment management system, and enhance high-quality construction of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). These steps will promote China’s broader and more in-depth opening-up. China will further advance the implementation of the Global Development Initiative and steer economic globalization in an open and inclusive direction, Liu said.
