Speaking at an event marking Bulgaria’s National Liberation Day, Bulgarian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Ruslan Stoyanov announced plans to deepen the strategic energy partnership between the two countries. Stoyanov said that this cooperation aims to increase energy security in the region.
In his speech, the ambassador emphasized the mutual importance of energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Bulgaria. “Under a long-term agreement, Azerbaijan currently supplies about half of Bulgaria’s annual gas consumption. We are striving to further strengthen our relations in the energy sector,” he said. Stoyanov also emphasized that Bulgaria is very interested in cooperation on the transmission of “green” energy from the Caspian region to Europe. This cooperation is in line with the sustainable development goals of both countries, he said. “Our strategic partnership is based on energy cooperation and we are excited to continue and even expand our cooperation in this area,” he said, painting an optimistic picture of the future of relations between the two countries.
