Chinese FM meets ROK counterpart, calls for deepening mutual trust, cooperation

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun in Beijing. Wang emphasized that both countries should act as genuine strategic partners based on friendship and cooperation. He highlighted China’s stable policy toward South Korea, calling for mutual trust, cooperation, protection of free trade, and proper handling of sensitive issues. He also mentioned stories that strengthened people-to-people ties. Marking the 80th anniversary of World War II’s victory, Wang said China is ready to contribute to a fairer global governance system. Cho praised China’s contributions during the war, reaffirmed South Korea’s commitment to improving bilateral ties, and reiterated support for the One-China principle.
