China and Singapore reiterated their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations, expanding cooperation in third markets, protecting the multilateral trading system, and ensuring the stable and uninterrupted operation of global industry and supply chains.
Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, who was on an official visit to Beijing, made this commitment during a meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang in the capital. Li Qiang emphasized that China and Singapore are friends and important partners, noting that cooperation has continued to develop and concrete results have been achieved in the 35 years since diplomatic relations were established. Li said that high-level contacts between the two countries should be maintained, strategic communication should be strengthened, and political trust should be consolidated. Prime Minister Li called for the promotion of joint projects under the Belt and Road Initiative, increased cooperation in areas such as the digital economy and artificial intelligence, and the expansion of joint ventures in third markets. He also said that people-to-people exchanges should be increased.
