Representatives of the Kazakhstan National Grid Operator (KEGOC) and the UK Trade Envoy to Azerbaijan and Central Asia, John Alderdice, a Member of the House of Lords, discussed opportunities for drawing on international expertise to further develop the ‘Caspian Green Energy Corridor’ project during a meeting in Astana.
According to KEGOC, the meeting was also attended by representatives of the British Embassy in Kazakhstan, led by Ambassador Sally Axworthy.
Bakytkhan Zhazykabaev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of KEGOC, outlined the progress of the project’s preparation, its technical concept and the next stages of work.
“During the meeting, the parties discussed current issues relating to the project’s implementation, as well as opportunities to draw on international expertise and capabilities for its further development. The British delegation, for its part, presented its expertise and investment potential in the field of interconnections and clean energy,” the KEGOC statement said.
The “Caspian Green Energy Corridor” involves the creation of infrastructure for the transmission of ‘green’ electricity across the Caspian Sea, with a subsequent connection to the European grid.
