In 2026, economic diplomacy will remain one of the key areas of Tajikistan’s foreign policy, ensuring the sustainable development of bilateral and multilateral relations. Since the beginning of the year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has focused on expanding cooperation in the fields of economics, trade, investment, industry, agriculture, hydropower and tourism, which contributes to strengthening the country’s position in the international arena.
In this context, the recent meeting of the Foreign Ministry’s collegium, which summarised the work of the foreign policy department and identified key tasks for 2026, is of particular importance. During the meeting, measures to develop economic cooperation with foreign partners, strengthen trade ties and attract investment were discussed. The decisions taken at the meeting are aimed at creating conditions for the implementation of joint projects, modernisation of infrastructure and introduction of innovative technologies in strategic sectors.
A striking example of such practical work was the initiation of joint projects with foreign partners in the energy and agro-industrial sectors. Thus, in 2025, Tajikistan attracted more than $146 million in investments from Kazakhstan, and bilateral trade with this country reached $1.3 billion (+7.4% compared to 2024).
