Message of Strategic Partnership Between South Korea and Singapore

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong held a telephone conversation on Monday. During the conversation, the two leaders agreed to further develop bilateral relations in various areas.

According to a statement from the South Korean Presidential Office, during the first phone call between the two leaders since Lee took office earlier this month, it was decided to establish a strategic partnership between the two countries to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations. According to a written statement by Presidential Spokesperson Kang Yu-jung, the leaders agreed to deepen strategic cooperation in areas such as ensuring peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and future growth areas such as artificial intelligence and digital technologies. President Lee expressed his pleasure at Prime Minister Wong’s participation in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit to be held in Gyeongju, South Korea, this year. Prime Minister Wong, in turn, expressed his hope for the summit’s success and the continuation of high-level contacts.
