Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchoriashvili met with British Ambassador to Georgia Gareth Ward. A statement regarding the meeting was issued by the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The current state of bilateral relations between Georgia and the United Kingdom was discussed during the meeting. Minister Botchoriashvili stated that recent statements and actions from the UK executive and legislative branches have undermined the strategic partnership between the two countries and created the impression of interference in Georgia’s internal affairs. Georgia’s new law on foreign funds was also discussed at the meeting. Ambassador Ward noted that the relevant regulatory procedures were in their final stages and that all stakeholders would be informed in a timely manner. Minister Botchoriashvili emphasized the importance of avoiding the politicization of judicial processes and preserving the independence of the judiciary. The parties also discussed regional security issues, emphasizing the critical role of strong and effective state institutions in ensuring national stability and security.
