India warns the European Union against double standards, especially when it comes to energy trade, as energy security is a priority for New Delhi.
According to Report, this was stated by Indian Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal on social media, commenting on the new EU sanctions package.
‘We have taken note of the latest sanctions announced by the European Union,’ he said.
‘The Government of India considers energy security to be a top priority in meeting the basic needs of its citizens. We would like to emphasise that there should be no double standards, especially when it comes to energy trade,’ Jaiswal stressed.
According to him, ‘India does not support any unilateral sanctions.’ ‘We are a responsible entity and are fully committed to our legal obligations,’ the Foreign Ministry representative said.
