Minister of Finance Almaz Baketav signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan during the annual meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund in Washington DC. The agreement between the two countries aims to promote joint work in the economic and financial spheres.
The memorandum was the result of negotiations between the Ministry of Finance of Kyrgyzstan and the Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan. Under the agreement, cooperation is planned in areas such as tax policies, customs procedures, investment projects and financial information exchange. Officials of the two countries said that this step will strengthen economic integration in the Central Asian region and improve mutual trade relations. In addition, the signed memorandum is expected to contribute to regional stability and development. In recent years, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan have taken important steps towards deepening their bilateral relations by signing cooperation agreements in sectors such as energy, transportation and tourism.
