The Hungarian Parliament has passed a bill to withdraw the country from the International Criminal Court (ICC). In a statement following the decision, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó described the ICC as “a politicized institution that has lost its impartiality and credibility”. The government had submitted the decision to withdraw to parliament on April 3. This step is considered as a new reflection of Hungary’s increasingly critical stance towards international institutions in recent years.
