German Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) has fallen to 19th place (second-to-last) in a ranking of Germany’s 20 most popular politicians, following his controversial statements on migration. According to a poll by INSA for Bild, Merz’s approval rating dropped to 35.2%, down from his previous 13th-place ranking. Defense Minister Boris Pistorius (SPD) remains the most popular politician with 51.2%, followed by Bavarian Primeinister Markus Söder (CSU) at 42.1%, and North Rhine-Westphalia’s Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst (CDU) at 40.8%.
