Argentine President Javier Milei has expressed his conviction that his country is capable of ensuring the energy security of European states. He made the statement while speaking at the international Conservative Political Action Conference in Budapest.
“Argentina is currently capable of guaranteeing Europe’s energy security. We are seeing a real gold rush in the field of energy investments. Imagine that by 2030, the volume of our energy exports will exceed $30 billion per year,” he said.
Milei believes that Argentina possesses sufficient oil and natural gas reserves to serve as a reliable energy partner for European countries.
In December 2025, the Argentine company Southern Energy signed the first large-scale agreement on liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies to the European market with the German state entity SEFE (Securing Energy for Europe). The terms of the contract stipulate the delivery of 2 million tons of LNG to Europe over eight years, which is expected to generate revenues of $7 billion for the Argentine economy.
