In North Macedonia, the foundations have been laid for a 400 kV power line, which will run from the ‘Bitola 2’ substation to the border with Albania.

It is noted that this large-scale project constitutes a strategic interconnector that will link the country with all its neighbouring states, strengthening its position as a reliable energy partner.

Minister Sanya Bojinovska stated that this project will shape the future of North Macedonia’s energy system:

“Through the 400 kV line, we are strengthening our power transmission network and our position within regional energy flows. This project sends a message to investors that our transmission infrastructure is ready for the economy of the future and the green transition.”

According to reports, the project not only enhances the security and stability of the electricity supply but also creates more opportunities for the integration of renewable energy sources, stimulates investment in the energy sector and fills a gap in the national power system.

Through this interconnector, North Macedonia and Albania will strengthen their regional partnership, ensure a stable exchange of green energy, and demonstrate a reliable partnership with European countries.
