Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan discussed expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation

On 30 January, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov held talks with Kazakhstan’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Uzbekistan Beibut Atamkulov, the ministry said, as reported by Trend.

According to the information, during the meeting, the current state and prospects for the development of trade, economic, investment and transport cooperation between the two countries were discussed.

It is reported that the parties noted the steady positive dynamics of bilateral trade and expressed their readiness to continue increasing mutual trade turnover within the framework of the Joint Programme, which envisages achieving a trade volume of US$10 billion by 2030.

At the end of 2025, the volume of mutual trade between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan amounted to US$4.97 billion, which is 11.4 per cent higher than the previous year. Exports reached US$1.55 billion, an increase of 1.2 per cent, while imports grew by 16.6 per cent to US$3.4 billion.

Special emphasis was placed on preparations for the first meeting of the Council of Heads of Regions of the two countries in 2026, as well as on the organisation of the ‘Made in Uzbekistan’ and ‘Made in Kazakhstan’ industrial exhibitions.
