Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, in a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering trust in China and commitment to stand by its side. Zardari praised China’s role in defending developing countries’ interests and emphasized the advancement of projects such as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Gwadar Port. He also highlighted the need for stronger coordination on regional and international issues. Wang Yi stressed that the China-Pakistan friendship is “unbreakable and rock-solid” and reaffirmed China’s support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Both sides agreed to upgrade CPEC to “version 2.0,” strengthen strategic communication, and build a closer community of shared future. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the “all-weather” nature of the partnership, expressing interest in deepening cooperation in agriculture, energy, mining, technology, and infrastructure. He assured China of Pakistan’s commitment to ensuring the safety of Chinese nationals and projects in the country. Army Chief Asim Munir echoed this, pledging enhanced counterterrorism and security cooperation to further consolidate the strategic partnership.
