Nikolay Patrushev, aide to the Russian president and head of the Maritime Board, stressed that Russia, as one of the world’s leading maritime powers, must consistently implement its maritime policy. Speaking to Rossiyskaya Gazeta, Patrushev noted that history shows nations neglecting maritime interests decline, while those prioritizing oceanic development rise to leadership. He said Russia’s growth depends on strengthening defense capabilities and expanding its economic maritime potential. He emphasized coordinated development across the Navy, commercial and passenger shipping, marine research, and sustainable use of marine resources. Patrushev also underlined the need for high-level interdepartmental cooperation, long-term planning, and a strategic approach to preserve Russia’s status as a great maritime power.
