The 2025 World Robot Conference (WRC) in Beijing showcased rapidly advancing embodied intelligence technologies, with humanoid robots as the main highlight. Over 200 companies presented robots capable of running, dancing, playing football, sorting assembly parts, making beds, and playing music. Chinese firms like Unitree Robotics and Galaxea AI demonstrated advanced mobility and Vision-Language-Action (VLA)-based task execution.
China’s robotics industry generated 240 billion yuan in revenue in 2024; in the first half of 2025, industrial robot production grew by 35.6% and service robot output by 25.5%.
China has been the world’s largest industrial robot market for 12 years. NVIDIA’s Rev Lebaredian noted China’s advantage in manufacturing and rapid real-world deployment, enabling faster iteration and optimization. The conference highlighted potential humanoid robot applications in automotive manufacturing, petrochemical inspections, emergency response, home services, and agriculture. Medical innovations included orthopedic surgical robots, guide robot dogs for the visually impaired, and wearable exoskeletons aiding the elderly and paraplegic patients. China views embodied intelligence as a strategic sector to boost consumption, develop emerging industries, create jobs, drive economic growth, and improve quality of life.
