The expansion of the network of joint industrial sites remains one of the key areas of economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia, as discussed during the fifth meeting of the Working Group on increasing trade turnover between the two countries in Tashkent.

This was stated by Alexei Mikhailov, Director of the Department for Economic Cooperation with CIS Countries at the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, in an exclusive interview with Trend.

“Technoparks in Chirchik and Jizzakh are already operating successfully in Uzbekistan. With over $30 million invested in infrastructure, the technoparks are home to around 30 residents and have created over two thousand jobs. These sites demonstrate the tangible results of industrial cooperation between our countries,” he said.

According to Mikhailov, the parties are currently working on expanding the network of joint industrial zones and launching new industrial cooperation projects.

“In particular, the government of Bashkortostan is considering the creation of the ‘Bekabad’ technology park in the Tashkent region,” he said.

He added that, in parallel, the existing network of technology parks in the regions of Uzbekistan is being expanded.

“Two more technology parks in the Navoi and Bukhara regions, with a total area of over 130,000 square metres, are being prepared for opening to new investment projects. In the Navoi region, two production buildings have already been constructed, which will be made available to residents for rent. One of them, with an area of around 40,000 square metres, is nearing completion,” Mikhailov explained.
