Serbia may be ready to build a nuclear power plant as early as 2032.
According to the Balkan bureau of Report, Serbia’s Minister of Mining and Energy, Dubravka Jedović-Khandanović, made this statement at a meeting with the heads of sub-groups of the inter-ministerial expert working group.
She said that the meeting discussed the studies to be carried out during the first phase of the nuclear programme’s implementation.
It is noted that a preliminary technical and economic study on the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes was completed last year, and the country is currently in the first phase of the programme.
“At this stage, a significant portion of the project tasks has already been defined within the sub-groups,” the minister emphasised.
