He expressed China’s welcome for Russia and the US maintaining contact, improving relations, and working toward a political settlement of the crisis.
Putin briefed Xi on Russia’s perspective regarding the Ukraine crisis and its recent communications with the US. He praised China’s constructive role in the political resolution and stressed that the comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and China would remain unchanged under any circumstances. Both leaders commended the high level of political trust and strategic coordination between their countries, agreeing to further strengthen relations. They also pledged to work together to make the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Tianjin Summit a meeting of friendship, unity, and tangible achievements.
