On August 8, 2025, a historic trilateral summit was held at the White House, hosted by U.S. President Donald J. Trump, bringing together Azerbaijan, the U.S., and Armenia. The signing of the trilateral agreement marked a milestone in Azerbaijan’s foreign policy and in the evolution of the Trump 47 Doctrine. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev reaffirmed his commitment to peace in the South Caucasus, openly supporting the idea of nominating Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. He also proposed developing the Zangezur Corridor as the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity,” an idea warmly welcomed by the U.S.

The agreement sets a framework for defining the Azerbaijan–Armenia border under international law and expanding economic cooperation. It builds on Azerbaijan’s 2020 Second Karabakh War victory and effectively ends the role of the OSCE Minsk Group. The day was also seen as the fulfillment of National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s long-standing vision for peace in Nagorno-Karabakh and the wider South Caucasus. This landmark event strengthens the Azerbaijan–U.S. strategic partnership and ushers in a new era of peace, security, and prosperity in the region.
