The Swiss Parliament’s decision to relax arms export rules is a positive step that will contribute to the development of Swiss industry and strengthen European security. It is important for the EU that Swiss exports can be supplied to all member states.

According to the European bureau Report, this was stated by the head of European diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, in Zurich, where two agreements were signed to deepen cooperation between the EU and Switzerland.

The signed documents concern the strengthening of relations between the EU and Switzerland in the field of foreign policy and security and the confederation’s participation in EU crisis management operations.

Kallas thanked Switzerland for its support for Ukraine and for providing it with vital humanitarian aid, including energy.

According to the top EU diplomat, it is clear that Russia does not want peace.

“That is why it is important to support Ukraine and put pressure on Russia. We must move forward with a €90 billion loan to Ukraine and our next package of sanctions. Sanctions weaken Russia’s ability to finance the war. I also thank Switzerland for joining us,” Callas said, adding that neutrality is not an obstacle to closer cooperation.
