The Cuban government ‘will soon fall,’ US President Donald Trump said in a telephone interview with Dana Bash of CNN.

‘By the way, Cuba will fall soon, it’s irrelevant, but Cuba will fall too,’ the American leader said.

According to Trump, the Cuban authorities want to make a deal with the US, so he will send Secretary of State Marco Rubio there, ‘and we’ll see what comes of it.’

He added that Washington is currently focused on this issue. ‘We have a lot of time, but Cuba is ready — after 50 years,’ the White House chief added.

Earlier, Trump said that Cuba is ‘a matter of time’ for the US, but Washington plans to ‘finish with Iran’ first. The Atlantic published an article in which it also claimed that Cuba could be the next ‘target’ of the US president.

On 29 January, the US declared a state of emergency due to the threat to national security posed by Cuba and threatened additional tariffs on countries supplying it with oil. This marked a virtually complete economic blockade of the island, as Mexico was also forced to stop supplies under pressure. Cuba stopped receiving fuel from Venezuela after the US operation in the Bolivarian Republic in January.
