Tajikistan and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) are working on a multi-year investment programme for 2026–2030 with a total value of $900 million. This was reported by the press office of the President of Tajikistan.
These figures were discussed on 27 October in Dushanbe at a meeting between the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, and the EBRD’s Vice-President for Banking Operations, Matteo Patrone.
The parties noted that the bank’s total investment in the country’s economy since it began operations in Tajikistan in 1993 has exceeded 1.1 billion euros.
In addition, the importance of the memorandum of understanding on the investment programme, signed in September by Tajikistan’s Minister of Finance, Faiziddin Kakhkhorzoda, and EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso, was emphasised.
Emomali Rahmon described the EBRD as an important partner in the development of the country’s economy, infrastructure and private sector. He requested that direct financing for manufacturing enterprises be expanded, and that affordable long-term loans be made available to small and medium-sized enterprises, particularly in the regions.
