According to forecasts by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), by 2031 Serbia will be among the five fastest-growing economies in Europe.
As reported by Report’s Balkan bureau, this was stated by Serbian Prime Minister Juro Matsut in an interview with TV Prva.
He said this confirms the resilience of the country’s economy, and that the EXPO exhibition will be one of the main driving forces behind its further economic development.
“The International Monetary Fund’s forecasts are the result of macroeconomic stability, as well as our economy’s ability to adapt to various challenges.”
The Prime Minister also noted that an event on the scale of EXPO has never before been held in this part of Europe. He emphasised that this is the largest and most technically complex specialised exhibition of any held to date.
It is noted that Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić also visited the EXPO construction site in Surčin.
“We are carrying out a huge amount of work. Despite my concerns and the constant question: ‘Will we be able to finish everything on time?’, I can now say that I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks to our tremendous hard work and perseverance, we will overcome all obstacles and present Serbia to the world in the best possible light,” emphasised the Serbian President.
