The Pentagon intends to award a contract to the defence contractor Raytheon for the supply of equipment and the provision of maintenance services for the Patriot air defence systems for Ukraine.
According to Report, this is stated in a document on the US government procurement portal.
“The US Department of Defence’s Logistics Agency is seeking qualified suppliers to ensure the operational readiness of Ukrainian Patriot systems by providing basic maintenance test benches, site surveys, installation and on-the-job staff training,” the notice states.
According to the document, the project is scheduled to run for several years: the site survey is planned for more than two years after the contract is signed, and the first deliveries of equipment are due to begin a further six months later. The installation of the main stations is not due to be completed until the fifth year of the project; therefore, if the agreement is concluded this year, the base may not become operational until the end of 2030.
The contract is planned to be awarded to Raytheon Corporation without a tender process, as the sole supplier.
