The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, has called on the states parties to the International Criminal Court (ICC) to take urgent measures to protect its operations in the face of US sanctions.

According to Report, this is stated in a declaration published on the website of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.

Türk described the US sanctions as unacceptable and emphasised the need to ensure that they do not have a deterrent effect on ICC staff and those cooperating with the court in the administration of justice.
