The UN is negotiating oil supplies to Cuba for humanitarian purposes.
According to Report, this was announced by Edem Vosornu, a spokesperson for the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), during an online briefing.
“The UN is holding talks and discussions to ensure the supply of fuel for the delivery of humanitarian aid across the country,” she said.
According to Vosornu, an acute fuel shortage is hampering the delivery of humanitarian aid, whilst the need for it is growing rapidly.
Cuban President Miguel Lias-Canel stated on Wednesday that the energy crisis on the island is worsening due to the tightening of the economic blockade by the Washington administration, which, he said, is aimed at “taking the people hostage and turning them against their own government”.
