The summit on the future of relations between the UK and the European Union has once again been postponed to a later date.
According to Report, citing the Financial Times, the meeting has been postponed from 6 November to the end of the month.
According to the publication, the postponement was due to disagreements between the parties over the ‘Made in Europe’ policy. It is noted that Andy Burnham’s new government fears that this plan will have a negative impact on British industry.
At the same time, European officials have refused to link this issue to the reset of relations between Brussels and London. As the newspaper reports, the European Union is prepared to adhere to the agreements reached during the previous negotiations in July.
One unnamed European diplomat stated that if the summit does not take place this year, it would be “better to wait until the UK elections in 2029”, as the meeting is “necessary to provide the impetus to resolve the remaining issues”.
