Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov held a meeting with Director General of Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ICESCO) Salim bin Muhammad al-Malik, Trend reports.
The sides exchanged views on the prospects of deepening partnership, with Saidov stressing the importance of strengthening ties with ICESCO and thanking the organisation for supporting Uzbekistan’s initiatives, including granting Samarkand the status of the cultural capital of the Islamic world in 2025.
Following the talks, the government of Uzbekistan and ICESCO signed an action plan defining key areas of cooperation and joint projects to be implemented in the near future.
