Uzbekistan and China Discuss Expansion of Cooperation in Digital Technologies

Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade, Ilzat Kasimov, met with China’s Deputy Minister of Industry and Information Technology, Xiong Jijun, in Shanghai on November 12, 2025, to discuss issues of digital transformation, the application of artificial intelligence (AI), and the modernization of the industrial sector. The parties explored prospects for expanding cooperation in digital technologies, big data processing, and cloud computing. Uzbekistan presented its initiatives under the “Digital Uzbekistan – 2030” strategy, aimed at developing IT infrastructure and supporting innovative startups. Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their intention to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation between China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the relevant agencies of the Central Asian countries. This meeting reflects Uzbekistan’s aim to strengthen its strategic technological partnership with China, accelerating digital infrastructure and industrial modernization in Central Asia.
