The European Union is ready to conclude a trade deal with the US, which is currently being negotiated in Washington by EU Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security Maroš Šefčovič. The goal is to reach an agreement in principle, similar to the one with the UK, with the details to be finalized later.

According to the European bureau Report, this was announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen at a joint press conference in Aarhus with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, who will chair the EU for the next six months.

“As you know, negotiations with the United States are ongoing. Commissioner Šefčovič is in Washington today. I want to say that we are ready for a deal. We want to find a solution through negotiations,” said the head of the EC.

At the same time, she noted that the EU is prepared for the possibility that an agreement may not be reached. “In other words, all instruments are ready for use,” von der Leyen said.
