Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed the law approving the natural resources agreement with the United States, according to information published on the Ukrainian Parliament’s website on Monday. Under the agreement, a joint investment fund will be established to support the reconstruction of Ukraine.
“The implementation of the agreement will ensure further development of economic cooperation between Ukraine and the United States,” the justification of the law reads. The agreement on the establishment of the fund was signed in Washington on April 30 by Ukraine’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yuliya Sviridenko and US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. According to Yuliya Sviridenko, the investment fund will be jointly managed and financed by both countries. Ukraine will retain full ownership and control over its natural resources.
