US Secretary of State meets with Turkmen Foreign Minister in Washington

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met in Washington, D.C., reaffirming their commitment to expand economic and trade relations. The talks also focused on regional integration and security within the “C5+1” framework. Rubio thanked Turkmenistan for assisting U.S. citizens evacuated from Iran during the Israel-Iran conflict. The visit included the 11th round of annual bilateral political consultations with U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia John Mark Pommersheim. Deputy State Department spokesperson Tommi Piggott said Washington proposed deepening cooperation on security issues. Both sides also discussed advancing projects with key U.S. companies and expanding investment opportunities in Turkmenistan.
