Canada will extend its military presence in Latvia until 2029, Prime Minister Mark Carney announced. Currently, about 2,000 Canadian troops are stationed in the country as part of a mission to deter Russia. By 2026, this number will increase to 2,200. Canada is also building new infrastructure at the Ādaži base near Riga.
